Architect lars backer born in Oslo 10 Jan 1892 died 7 June 1930. Educated at Stockholm's kong. technical college 1915-1918. Interned at the Architectural Association school 1929-1921. Founded own company in Oslo in 1921.

With a rare combination of competence in architecture and economics, Frithjof Stoud Platou became known as an architect with business acumen. Soon after he started his own practice in 1930, his first name was shortened to initials, and the firm F. S. Platou has been a well-known name in the Norwegian architectural community for almost three generations of the 20th century.

Horngården was built in 1929-1930 and is characterized by its purely functionalist design. Originally, the building was planned with 12 full-fledged apartments and a secluded top floor, which caused great debate. This was reduced to the current 8 floors with the possibility of future expansion. Lars Backer died in 1930 and architect F.S.Platou was responsible for the completion of the building. The building was protected by the National Antiquities Authority in 1997. The protection covers the building's exterior, main structure and floor plan, and the stairwell to the west.
